A Liberal Arts major provides students an opportunity to experience a variety of course options as they explore their career interests. The major leads to an Associate of Arts degree and provides a broad foundation of general coursework for students who want to pursue a bachelor's degree in the arts, humanities, or social sciences.

Alisa's Story

If someone told me two years ago that I would travel across the ocean and became a Cowley College student, I wouldn鈥檛 believe. I graduated a high school in my hometown, Saint-Petersburg, Russia. Then, in Russian university I learnt about an exchange program which allowed me to live in the United States and study at Cowley College for one year.

At Cowley College, I opened a new world for myself. I went to different classes where I learnt to think critically, view things from diverse points of view, communicate and express my ideas in English language.

I鈥檓 very grateful to all professors who were patient and helped me with difficulties. At Cowley College I met many international and American friends and instructors. Conversations with them broaden my horizons. I participated in Media Club and Art club and learnt how to be creative. During my exchange year, I became so fascinated with Cowley鈥檚 environment that allows students to develop and grow that I decided to continue my sophomore year as an online student with focus on Mass Communications.

Studying online has many challenges, but Mass Communications scholarship and Foundation scholarship allowed me to focus on my study, dedicate my time on developing and becoming more professional. Also, it was helpful that these scholarships are stackable. As for the challenges, they helped me to become more flexible and taught (me) how to deal with unexpected situations.

Now there are only a few days before my graduation. I鈥檓 looking back at these two years that passed so quickly, and I feel very grateful to Cowley College that gave me a life filled with new knowledge, skills, experiences, friendships, and memories.

Cowley College offers a great opportunity to earn an Associate of Arts degree and pursue a bachelor's degree in the arts, humanities, or social sciences. With our Liberal Arts Transfer program, you can take a range of general education courses that will teach you important knowledge and how to think critically.

You can even take courses online to get transferable credits that are much more affordable than a four-year college. Cowley College also offers an AFA Degree in this program.
